Open House at Puncak Alam

25th October 2008

In the end of Syawal month - dat time I had my study week before final. Mom invited our close relatives for our open house.

At night before, my grandma came together with my sis's family. Dat day, mom prepared lots of food for Open House with helped from grandma and (little) help from me T_T.

Mom cooked Rendang Ayam, Kuah kacang, Pulut Kuning and especially mom's Soto Ayam =)

Fact 1
Seorang yang gemar memakai baju kelawar. Baju kebangsaan meamizuno sewaktu dirumah. Pernah dua-tiga-empat-lima-enam kali cuba memakai spaghetti strap dan juga tiub2 pakaian yang selalu dipakai oleh kawan2 perempuan ku bersama suar pendek paras peha utk rasa remaja. Tetapi, selepas 30 min, ku tidak tahan. Baju kelawar juga yang menjadi pujaan hidupku. Memiliki lebih 40 baju kelawar dan cuba utk menambah koleksi. LOL.

Fact 2
Saya tidak reti memakai chopstick - Walaupun sangat meminati makanan Jepun dan sudah lama makan sushi. Diajar berpuluh2 kali oleh Kj tetapi masih sukar mengetip makanan dgn chopstick. Sila ajar saya.

Fact 3
Sangat suka mengumpul wig. Sudah memiliki lebih 12++ wigs dan some of them dah dijual utk beli wig yang baru. Berniat utk mengumpul lebih byk lg. Mea masih teringat lagi waktu darjah 6 dlu pernah baca surat khabar pasal artis barat - Cher yang ada lebih 100++ wig dan penuh satu bilik. Waktu itu ku rasa dia adalah orang gila. Dan sekarang mungkin aku adalah org gila itu yg suka wig. Jika di Malaysia - maybe boleh dikatakan Erra Fazira wannabe yang merupakan artis yg memiliki wig plg byk di Malaysia. KUAKUAKUA. Ah. Bila teringat balasan org yg pakai rambut palsu - Ku sgt takutkan titian siratulmustaqim T_T.

Fact 4
Sejak kecil, selalu rasa ingin memiliki syarikat sendiri..dimana terdapat globe di dalam bilik…dan bila sdg bercakap dgn org bawahan sambil memusing2 globe dan mengatakan : kita akan menerbangkan perusahaan kita di Negara Eropah etc- seperti tertulis di globe.
Perasaan membuka jendela melihat bangunan klcc sambil menerangkan tentang projek juta-juta seperti dalam drama melayu juga mcm sgt cool. Wpun bukan impian major..tp mungkin akan gembira jika dpt berbuat sedemikian.

Fact 5
Sangat gemar tawar-menawar. Di latih sejak dari kecil oleh ibu bapa di pasar2, di chowkit, di Jalan TAR terutamanya. Hasilnya - pada usia remaja ini ku mampu meminta tawar serendah2nya. Wpun ada juga rekod gagal menawar - tetapi prinsip utama adalah biarlah walaupun dpt tawar RM1, janji dpt tawar. Apakah.

Fact 6
Kisah paling hiba zaman kanak2 - setiap kali pergi ke pasar malam, pasti akan memujuk dan meminta2 ibu bapa membeli anak ayam warna-warni. Setiap kali pergi juga pasti akan meminta, tapi mmg tak dpt. One day, diorg belikan utk ku. Dua ekor. SANGAT GEMBIRA. Balik rumah bg beras pada anak-anak ayam itu. Dua tiga hari - mereka mati. TERSANGATLAH SEDIH. Tak pernah rasa sesedih ini. Kenapa anak ayam warna-warni perlu mati cepat. Kenapa. Kenapa. Kisah ini telah meninggalkan bekas hitam yg perit pada kenangan zaman kanak2 ku. T_T

Fact 7
Sangat sangat menggemari Soundtrack movie dan quote2 yang best yg dipetik dari novel, magazine, komik, anime dan di mana2 saja. Jika selepas tgk cerita yang sgt2 best, akan berusaha sekuat hati utk mendownload OST movie tersebut dan juga mencari quote2 yg best dlm cerita dan dimuatkan dalam diari. OST movie @ anime @ drama adalah diantara benda yg dapat menguatkan jiwaku. Hehe.


Fact 8
Oh dah last. Ok. last skali. Gemar bersiar2. Dilatih oleh ibu bapa sejak kecil mesti keluar jalan2 at least seminggu sekali. Ayah sgt gemar bawak kitorg satu family ke mana2 saja di hari minggu wpun time susah-susah dulu. PASTI akan keluar hari minggu. Jadi, sudah terbiasa, jika tidak keluar lebih dua minggu, badan akan demam dan pening kepala, fikiran juga meronta2. Jadi mak ayah, jgn lah mara jika angah slalu kua. heh. xD Ku dilatih dgn baik, bukan? *wahaha...mati aku kalau mak ayah baca ni*


PHEW! PANJANG NYE! Bacalah jika takda keje. Hehe.

Raya-raya

A week after my Open house day, I went back at Puncak Alam. I already finished my 4th sem in UPM dat time so I got one week holiday for study week before Final Exam.

Eventhou I've been busy with revision study, dat time still in Syawal month -Raya itu sebulan. LOL. So, I followed my parent to go for beraya.

Night. Celebrate raya at Puncak Alam's resident.

Satu taman kami tu buat jamuan hari raya.

And next day, went to my neighbor's house. He is a rich man @_@. Taukey ayam. His open house is just like Wedding day - SGT BYK MAKANAN! Ada khemah gelung2 lagi >_<. And da most important thing is, he provided Roasted Chickens for guests!! GILA SEDAP! DAH MMG MCM KEDAI AYAMAS (LG SEDAP DR TU!)

Oh pakcik tokey ayam, kahwinkan ku dgn anakmu. LOL. Tatkala itu terasa mahu bawa seekor roasted chicken pulang ke rumah. Tetapi pastilah segan. Aku tahu tentang itu. LOL.

Dats all. Heh.

Pegedil

Until now, I seriously dunno how to spell dis pegedil. Is it pergedil? or Pegedil? Or pedegil? Lol tu dah lain. wakaka.

Most of cooking book wrote it as Pegedil. So I think dat is da right spelling for it. Heh.

Pegedil is one of my favourite Malay potato snack. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. My grandma used to make pegedil twice a week for me to bring it at school. Dan ku kerap share nya dgn Izah n Aina di waktu rehat pada waktu sekolah dulu kala. I LOVE IT SO MUCH MUCH MUCH.

Normally, we make Pegedil along with Soto Ayam. Macam aksesori tambahan lah gitu. Without pegedil, Soto Ayam seperti tidak lengkap. Seperti memakai baju tanpa seluar. Terasa tidak lengkap. Jadi, pegedil perlu ada.

And, indeed, it was easy to make it. You can make it anytime you hungry. Sangat mudah sangat enak dan sangat digemari ramai.

Let me teach you how to make dis lovely pegedil for orang2 pedegil. Lol. Jk jk.

Firstly, cut da potatoes into small pieces.

Not really small ya - coz if more smaller, later when you fried it, it will become oily. And not really big ya, coz its hard to grind it later.

After dat, put little salt in there. *mix it well*

Later, fried da potatoes

Toskan kentang itu.


Fried potatoes =)


Meanwhile, tried to boil da minced beefs for 15-20 mins.


Grind da potatoes with mortal and pestle (LOL. phrase ini ku belajar dr lab animal tissue culture - mortal and pestle.kikiki)

Tumbuk hingga lumat.

After that, put soup leaves *daun sup*, bawang goreng and also minced beef *direbus*


Mix them together


Mixture of pegedil =)


And then, make it in small round ball size like dis :


Next, take 2-3 eggs and mix da white and yellow color together (mcm nak buat telur dadar)

And dip da pegedil into da egg mixture xD

Sgt laris pegedil hari itu~ Everyone loves pegedil a lot. Trust me. It is so tasty! xD

Recipe : Soto Ayam

This is da first time I learned on how to make Soto Ayam. That time, I called my mom for one hours to get da recipe, and after that on da evening, my grandma and me went to Desanika shop to buy ingredients for Soto Ayam. Later at night, after Isyak, I made all the stuffs for Soto Ayam with help from grandma until 3 am. Exhausted and tired. But it was fun to learn new thing - especially for something that I really like ^_^

From my opinion, Soto Ayam is easy to make - but got lots of stuffs - Pegedil, Kacang Goreng, Suhun Goreng, Nasi Impit, Taugeh, Daun sup etc dat required longer time of preparation unlike other Malay food. But it was interesting to try it coz its super delicious xD.


1) Nasi Impit

My grandma and mom always bought da Adabi ketupat nasi packets for Nasi Impit. 4 years before, since I was a small kid, my grandma used to make nasi impit in traditional way - she cooked da rice, put it in cotton fabric n impit the rice guna batu berat for whole night. Now, after got ketupat nasi packet ~ its more easier for her =)

Remember to cook it well for 3 hours - not less than that because da Nasi Impit tend to be so soft n akan jadi berbulu2 if masak sekejap. Remember ya! Dis is crucial step!

After 3 hours, I cooled it down by using tap water. Hehe.

2) Sup Ayam + Hirisan Ayam

Da most tired and important step to do. >_<

Boil da chicken *rebuskan ayam hingga mendidih*

*Please do not throw away da boiled water - coz it will be used for Chicken soup later*

And later, carikkan (shred) dat chicken like da second pics.


After dat, put little kunyit (yellow pigment? dye? huahuahua..ni ku cari dlm kamus)

Mix it well.

Then fried it~

Da reason why I used Kunyit for dis because normally when you shred da boiled chicken and put it in da bowl @ tupperware for long time (6-7 hours), da chicken will become smelly unless you dun close dat bowl @ tupperware very close.(cepat basi nanti) I used this method coz last time I went to Cik Bana's house, she did this method to prevent dat smell.

Minced chicken dat already been fried. Got yellowish color because of Kunyit (yellow pigments..ahaks!)

It taste good but after tried it, I think da best way is still da same old boiled chicken without fried it with Kunyit. It taste more original, I believe. =)

Ok, back to da chicken bones (dimana ku sudah mencarikkan isinya hingga tinggal tulang)

Mom taught me to put dis chicken bones inside of soup to make it more tastier =) And it worked very well.

Remember about da left over boiled water before? We normally used that to make Chicken soup - mak cakap aroma bau ayam tu buat dia lagi sedap =)

Put little oil, together with 7 biji bawang merah (minced), 1 inch lengkuas, 3 batang serai, 3 kuntum bunga lawang and 2 biji buah cengkih - tumiskan. (tumis in english? TumiX? LOL. Jenama tumis. kikiki)

Until it have some aroma, put da boiled water inside.

Put black pepper in there and wait until it boil.


Finished =) My chicken soup for Soto Ayam - da main part of Soto.

You can put some bawang goreng if you want to =)

3) Bihun

Other than Nasi Impit, I also prepared bihun for Soto Ayam (althou not in menu). Coz normally I love to eat Soto Ayam with bihun xD

Bihun Cap Bintang jenama turun temurun keluarga ku. Hehe. Just boiled it *rebuskan*

4) Suhun goreng

Cook da Suhun ~ *gorengkan*


Cook it for 1-2 mins only ya.

Lama2 nanti dia cepat hangus.

5) Kacang goreng

Fried da kacang xD


6) Taugeh

And taugeh ~ put it on warm water for less than 5 mins.


7) Daun sup

Chop da soup leaves into small pieces


8) Sambal Kicap

Lastly, my favourite sambal kicap. This one is my grandma's recipe - where she love Sambal Kicap cair. Dis one not spicy *pedas*

Meanwhile, my mom love spicy Sambal Kicap yang pekat. She just grind Cili api (segenggam tangan) and then put soy sauce on there. Try it. Super spicy. And I love dis way more. =)

Soto Ayam

Da finished Soto Ayam =) I love it very much especially da Chicken Soup~!

Open House


11th October 2008.

A week after Raya, I gathered all my close friends for my Raya's open house =)

Unlike previous open house (last year), this year I tried to cook all da foods by myself with help from grandma.

Grandma teached me a lot how to make Soto Ayam and Pegedil =) I love it so much. I spent more than 6 hours at night before (until 3 am) to finish all da dishes.

My open house started on 11 am.

And da first one to come..is Yani =)

She is so sweet with her baju kurung~ (but dat one is not baju kurung I believe..some sort of Baju kebarung? Baju johor? Ah..at 5.46 am now..I forgot da name ady >_<)

We borak2 until 11.30 am, therefore Izah and Angah came =)

Hoho~! Izah so beautiful lately. I wonder why. And somehow her skin looked more glowing and flawless than before. Hoho.

And later she and Angah went to KTM Komuter to pick up Kj, Ayg, Aina and Kaka.

So then, my bestfriend from UPM came - Zul =). He came with Syawal (we are in da same Molecular Biotech group).

Alhamdulillah for a very great day~! Everything run smoothly except dat my laptop broken down. I'm so sad and worried about that.
